Not an orphanage. A family home.

Family-based orphan care in Pakistan, rooted in love and dignity

Roshni Homes is not an institution. It is a home for orphans, where every child is nurtured with dignity, love and the stability of a family, from their first day with us to university and beyond.

A home of their own

Our homes: an 8-acre campus designed for family life

Change a child’s life and let them change yours. Roshni Homes is a purpose-built campus spread over 8 acres in the heart of Gujranwala, thoughtfully designed to give children a true family environment.

Beyond the homes themselves, the campus has playgrounds, gardens and even a small farm, creating a wholesome space for play, growth and learning. It runs on solar energy for sustainability and will soon include its own in-house Montessori, laying strong foundations from the earliest years.

Every home accommodates up to 8 children, creating small family units where bonds of love and care can flourish.

Our secret superstars

Meet our mothers: professional care in a mother’s embrace

At the heart of each home is a dedicated mother, the true superhero of Roshni. She makes sure the children’s daily routine is balanced, from education and health to emotional support and discipline.

Our mothers are specially trained and well educated. They give regular updates on each child’s wellbeing and attend ongoing training so their care stays attentive and up to date.

Lifelong bonds

Our family: growing up as brothers and sisters

At Roshni, children grow up as true brothers and sisters, learning empathy and cooperation through shared experiences. Older children look out for younger ones, and every child learns what it means to belong.

This integrated family model continues until the age of 12. After that, children move into specialised youth homes tailored to their stage of development, with the same care and guidance.

At Roshni, childhood is not a solitary journey. It is a shared experience of growing up together as one family.

Dignity in giving: why we never accept used clothes

By protecting our children’s self-respect today, we prepare them to lead with confidence tomorrow.

We do not accept used clothes as donations. Instead, our children go to the market with their mothers and choose their own clothes, just as any child would. It is one small part of a wider commitment: our children never appear in their own fundraising, and the identities of sponsors are never shared with them.

Protecting self-respect today, preparing leaders for tomorrow.

  • Basic life skills

Every child should be able to live independently with a problem-solving mindset. Our children learn to cook, clean, mend and handle life’s challenges, along with arts and skills that complement their natural talents.

  • Digital skills training

Regular programmes in photography, digital content creation and social media marketing equip our children with modern skills for learning, expression and future careers.

  • Vocational training

Hands-on training in tailoring, arts and crafts, and gardening builds confidence and opens pathways to future employment and self-reliance.

Nutrition focused

Healthy, balanced nutrition for growing children

Proper nutrition is the foundation of a child’s physical and mental development. All our meals are carefully planned, balanced and made with locally sourced ingredients for quality and freshness.

Each morning begins with mothers preparing breakfast in their homes and packing a nutritious lunch for their children to take to school. For lunch and dinner, every house receives freshly cooked meals from the common kitchen on campus.

Fresh milk, organic vegetables and filtered water from our own filtration plant make sure every meal nourishes both mind and body.

  • Balanced meals

Three nutritious meals and snacks every day, planned by nutritionists for growing children.

  • Fresh ingredients

Fresh, locally grown produce for the highest quality in every meal.

  • Dietary education

Children learn healthy eating habits and how to prepare food, knowledge for life.

Our healthcare

Healthcare for body and mind

Every child’s health is looked after from the day they arrive, with physical check-ups, dental care and emotional support in one joined-up plan.

  • Mental health

We carry out baseline clinical evaluations when a child joins us to understand their emotional needs, followed by regular reassessments to support long-term stability and resilience.

  • Dental hygiene

From first screening to daily supervised brushing and specialist treatment, we build healthy habits that protect our children’s smiles for life.

  • Regular check-ups

Our panel of experienced doctors manages a thorough health routine, including vaccinations, blood tests and routine screenings.

  • Counselling

One-to-one sessions give children a safe space to heal from past loss and build the emotional foundations for a healthy sense of identity.

Active in sports

Sports and fitness with a full-time coach

An active lifestyle is an essential part of every child’s growth. Our campus has wide open grounds, dedicated playgrounds, a football pitch and badminton courts where children play and train.

A full-time sports coach guides them in different games, with a special focus on football. Our vision is to train young athletes who can compete at national and international level, representing Roshni Homes with pride.

To take this further, we are developing a modern fitness centre with a gym, swimming pool and training facilities for many sports.

Our activities

Activities that grow curious, confident children

Outside school, our children’s days are full of things that build body, mind and imagination.

  • Horticulture

Our children take part in hands-on organic farming, learning the science of growth by cultivating their own herbs and vegetables. It builds respect for the environment and a practical understanding of sustainable nutrition.

  • Yoga and mindfulness

After Fajr prayers, regular mindfulness and yoga sessions give a calm start to the day, helping children develop emotional balance, flexibility and a disciplined, peaceful state of mind.

  • Arts and crafts

Through a range of artistic media, children explore their imagination and express their feelings visually, refining fine motor skills and the confidence to share their own perspective.

  • Educational trips

Regular trips to industries, parks and cultural landmarks connect classroom learning to the real world, sparking curiosity and preparing our young people for varied social and professional settings.

Character building

Character building through example, faith and practice

At Roshni, we believe character cannot be learned from a textbook alone. It must be demonstrated, nurtured and practised until it becomes second nature. Our environment is designed to encourage good behaviour, integrity and responsibility every single day.

Our campus masjid offers daily prayers, Quran circles, a Hifz programme and Arabic classes, at the centre of our children’s spiritual and ethical growth.

  • Role models and training

Mothers and staff receive continuous training in child development and positive parenting, and are held accountable for modelling respect, compassion and discipline.

  • Ethical guidance and practice

Every child follows an ethics guidebook of values and how to live them, reinforced with stories from the life of the Prophet ﷺ and his companions.

  • Active part of society

Children learn the joy and duty of giving back, from volunteering to stepping forward in times of need.
